The Performing Arts Department at the Amman Baccalaureate School (ABS) offers a variety of World drama, music and dance activities.  ABS has an excellent reputation in the region for its outstanding annual productions.

There are performance opportunities throughout the whole year in the form of the annual Arabic play, annual English play, music concerts, talent shows, Theatre in Education shows and assembly performances. Students are auditioned by a panel of teachers and student directors and all students are encouraged to apply for roles whether they take the subject of drama or music in school or not.

On several occasions, the department took students interested in Performing Arts, on an educational theatre trip to London or Manchester.  Students took part in workshops led by top theatre experts; they were able to meet and interview professional actors and directors, attended a course in technical theatre, visited the theatre museum and saw over eight varied theatrical productions in one week.  The ABS is a proud member of The International School Theatre Association (ISTA) which works hand-in-hand with the International Baccalaureate (IB).

The School encourages students to be involved in all aspects of productions as well as performance. Students can opt to take the opportunity to direct, to manage backstage, to orchestrate lighting and technical aspects, to budget and market, and to arrange set and costume design. New students are encouraged to join the productions as a great way of integrating into the school and making new friends.
